Destinations
Our fascination with Sri Lanka remains second to none, but we like to think we are an eclectic bunch and our passions also spread a little wider.Sri Lanka holidays offer a stunning blend of history, culture and wildlife with a spectacular landscape of palm-fringed beaches, lush forests and tranquil hill stations. Tear yourself away from the beach and you will discover friendly people, mouth-watering food and beautiful scenery. Marvel at Sri Lanka’s ancient cities of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and the rock fortress of Sigiriya, or discover the famous Temple of the Tooth in Kandy.
Further south, the plains give way to rolling hills and mountain peaks carpeted with rows of emerald tea plantations and a cool, refreshing climate. Sri Lanka’s verdant national parks are also a haven for wildlife, from over 400 species of birds to majestic elephants, as well as the elusive leopard.
As well as some awe-inspiring sights, India is also home to unforgettable experiences. These provide a unique insight into the culture that sightseeing alone simply can’t replace.
Activities range from enjoying a refined high tea in one of India’s iconic hotels to a street food culinary adventure, from a cruise on the Ganges as Calcutta wakes up or around Cochin harbour as the sun sets, from soaring over the countryside surrounding Jaipur in a hot air balloon to taking a spin in a vintage car around Udaipur.
Our collection of unmissable experiences will really help bring your India holiday to life.
The best time to visit India varies by region. North India’s cool season is from October to April while in South India it’s from November to March. Cool does not necessarily mean cold as daytime temperatures remain high, with clear skies and sunshine.
The exception is the far north in the Himalayas. From October to April the nights here are very cold and from December to February the daytime temperature also drops considerably. The summer months bring warmer temperatures, averaging 25°C.
From April to June, with the exception of the Himalayas, India experiences a hot and humid climate by day and night. The monsoon typically falls on North India from July to September, Goa from May to September and South India from June to November. The climate is very humid and wet at this time.
